This is an interesting site for me as I am researching my family history with Majors Creek, an area that I knew by name only and not for the information that I am now researching.

Glenn hawkins

My father told me a story about his father Christopher George Hawkins clearing land here to grow tobacco.  Does anyone know about tobacco farms in the area or remember the Hawkins name from the area.

I am looking for Stephen King's family.
Last time I saw Steve was hospital.
Mrs.J.King widow nee ??? i saw & chatted with in
Jerrowa, NSW about 2003 on a farmlet home about
20 min. from Yass on Goulburn-Yass "speedway"
between Syd & Mlb. truckers hiway.
A couple of months or less one of Jean & Steve's
other boys passed in The Canberra Hospital i
heard. I got to Steve's funeral after so long without a Dr
of his own. Alan Shroot was ok with Steve but disliked non
Jewish smokers in Oz too much! Steve and too many
of his & Jean's children lost so early. Life rarely fair to
too many.

Hi there,  I am a descendant of the Jury/Parker family. I was wondering what and when the Jury house was destroyed?  My sisters and myself spent many  a holiday in younger years at that house, so sad to see what happened to it.  I live in Sydney and went through there again in 2012. My grandmother name was Rose Helena Jury.........

Hi MC :)

I am currently researching Majors Creek on behalf a direct descendant of Major William Sandys Elrington and am hoping you could provide me with some assistance and guidance - especially with any information, images you may know exist on William's lfe and times whilst living there.

I am amazed that I can't find even a sketch of the man or his family. Would you happen to know if there is any please?

I have put together quite an amount from websites and Trove and am happy to share what I have if its of interest to you.

Thank you

Best Regards

What a pity Rudi did not talk to me about his concerns with the Black Walnut trees.

They were planted small as they do not like their tap root disturbed. Moving them has more than likely ensured that they will die.  A quick phone call and I could have explained that to Rudi.

Hello!  I'm hoping you may be able to put me in touch with someone who is interested in renting a house/cabin/caravan over the Major's Creek Festival weekend this year (20-22 Nov) to some Canberra folk.  We would be happy to rent it for the whole week if that is more attractive.  We would need beds for 4 adults, at a minimum.  (The number of beds would determine if our adult children get invited!)  Thank you very much!  Cheers, Sonia
