21/02 - Braidwood council office saved

The Palerang Shire Council will be keeping its Braidwood office open after receiving funding from the New South Wales Government.

There was concern the office would be closed and council staff moved to the Bungendore office because the council could not afford to repair the building.
Palerang Mayor Walter Raynolds says $400,000 in funding has secured the site's foreseeable future.

"It will allow a major refurbishment of the building, which it desperately needs," he said.

The Greens candidate for Monaro Paul Cockram said that it is unacceptable to develop a major regional processing facility and gold mine next to the village of Majors Creek.
